About

And You Are?

I’m a woman with an unhealthy obsession with men’s clothing and beyond that no authority whatsoever when it comes to men’s dress. I started BespokeFinder to serve as an outlet for this interest and also to store my tidbits and clippings about good tailors, and lastly to help my husband in his perpetual quest for nicely fitting bespoke suits and custom shirts.

As I recently discovered during a trip to Hong Kong, information about bespoke or custom clothing is everywhere and nowhere … there have been countless articles written in magazines and great tidbits buried in forums, but it’s just that: scattered all over the place. And when it comes to custom clothing for women (I refrain from using “couture” as that’s a whole different ballgame), it’s even especially hard to find! So that’s a goal for this site, as well as helping lovers of fine clothing educate themselves about the amazing suit makers, dress makers, shoemakers, tailors who inhabit the World of Custom Everything.

And while we do want to emphasize the good providers out there, we actually want to also provide a forum for those whose bespoke experiences were less than stellar. So regardless of whether it was a good experience or bad, please, do comment away.

If you are a bespoke provider and you’re not listed here, you can do a few things with BespokeFinder:

What Was Your First Bespoke Experience?

My first bespoke item was, ironically, a suit that my mother’s tailor made for my sister as she started her career as an investment banker. (Does it still count as bespoke when it’s custom-made for someone else? What about when you’re 2 inches taller than that person?) I eventually got a custom suit of my own – a navy, wool skirt suit with laughably large collars. That was a long time ago, when women still wore suits! Thankfully, these days I can be found more often in jeggings and boots. But I still dream of that perfectly tailored jacket.

Ciao!
